Authenticating Using the App Option


Concept

In this topic, you will learn how to authenticate your G5 login using the App option.


Steps:

  1. To begin, enter your Email ID and Password on the G5 homepage.

  2. Click the Yes, I Accept the Terms checkbox.

  3. Click the Login to G5 button to log in.

  4. After you have completed and submitted your profile you will now be directed to the Two Factor Authorization screen where you will have one of three ways to retrieve the unique code needed to complete the G5 log-in process.  The three options are:

     

    App - Use an Authenticator Application on your smart device

     

    Voice - Receive Voice Call-Back

     

    Text - Receive SMS/Text

     

    Note: Use only one of the three options to retrieve the unique code necessary to log in to G5.

     

    The following instructions will show you how to activate and log in using the App tab.  This includes downloading an authenticator app on your smart device, activating that device for use with G5, and logging into G5.

  5. The App tab will provide instructions on activating your smart device. This page only appears prior to activation. Download the free Authenticator Application to your smart device. You can search for the Authenticator Application wherever you obtain applications for your smart device (such as Apple’s App Store) and download it to your device.

     

    Note: Instructions for downloading the Authenticator App for each of the recommended smart device platforms can be found on the G5 App page as shown in the highlighted red box.  Simply click on the hyperlink for your specific smart device to get instructions.

  6. Once the Authenticator Application is downloaded to your smart device, you will need to follow this one-time step to activate it: 

     

    1) Scan the QR code that appears on the G5 Two Factor Authentication page using your smart device.

     

    or

     

    2) Manually type the activation code on the G5 page into the key field on the authenticator application on your smart device.

    Step 6

  7. Retrieve the six digit code generated from the App on your smart phone. You will enter the code generated on your smart device into the Passcode field in G5. 

     

    Note:  The code is valid for 30 seconds. If you do not enter the code in time, you will need to enter the next code that appears.

  8. Click in the Passcode field to enter the six digit code.

  9. The code has been entered for you in this example.

     

    Note: The code will be active for 30 seconds from when you receive it from the App. If you do not enter the code in the Passcode field within the 30 second window, simply enter the next code that appears on the App.

  10. Click the Verify Code and Activate button.  

     

    This step completes the activation process.

  11. After completing the device activation, you will be prompted to reenter a passcode on the App tab.

     

    If the code you entered previously has expired, enter the new code that appears in your authenticator app.

     

    Note: After device activation, you will be redirected to this page after entering your Email ID and Password on the G5 homepage. You will enter a passcode here to authenticate your log in.

  12. Open the authenticator app on your smart device to receive your numerical code.

     

    Next, click in the Passcode field to enter the numerical code.

  13. The code has been entered for you in this example.

     

    Note: The code will be active for 30 seconds from when it first generates. After 30 seconds, a new code will appear in your authenticator app. If you do not enter the code in the Passcode field within the 30 second window, you must enter the new code that appears.

  14. After entering the code, click the Verify Code button to complete the authentication.

  15. You will be then be logged in to G5 and the homepage will appear.
