Purpose: This procedure demonstrates how a program officer processes a No Cost Time Extension (NCTE).  A NCTE extends the Budget Period End Date for the award's final budget period to allow more time for the grantee to complete their objectives.  No additional funding is provided during this action.  To create a NCTE, the program office must perform a Dates Change administrative action to modify the Current Budget Period End Date when the award is in its final budget period.  The program office can administer a NCTE to an award period with a Period of Performance (POP) in 12 month increments.  If the Performance Period established on the subprogram is set for greater than 12 months, the program office will be unable to change the date for the award.
