Register as a Payee


Concept

In this topic, you will learn how to register in the G5 system as a payee.


Steps:

  1. Click the Sign Up link to register as a new user.

  2. The User Registration screen displays.

     

    Click in the ED Employee/ED Contractor field to display the employee/contractor options.

  3. Select No to indicate you are not a U.S. Department of Education employee or contractor.

  4. Enter the information in the First Name field.

     

    In this example, enter "Tim".

  5. Enter the information in the Last Name field.

     

    In this example, enter "Applicant".

  6. Enter the information in the Email Address field.

     

    In this example, enter "tim.applicant@gmail.com".

  7. Repeat your email address in the Confirm Email Address field.  This step has been completed for you in this example.

  8. Enter your address in the required fields which are identified by a red asterisk (*).

     

    These fields have completed for you in this example.

  9. Click the Continue button to continue to the user registration agreement.

  10. Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down and read the user agreement.

  11. After reviewing the agreement, select the Agree option to agree to the user agreement.

     

    Note:  If you do not agree, then you may not complete the registration process.

  12. Click the Submit button to submit your account request.

  13. The system displays a message indicating that the system will send a notification to your email address.

  14. An email titled "[G5.gov] Account Request" will be sent to you.

     

    Click the Activate My Account button.

  15. Clicking the link takes you to the Account Activation screen.

     

    Click the Agree option to agree to the activation terms.

  16. Click the Submit button to submit your activation.

  17. Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down and review the rules for the user ID and password.

  18. Click the Continue > button to complete the password, security question and security answer.

  19. Enter a phone number into one of the available fields.

     

    In this example, enter "2025555555" in the Work Number field.

  20. Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down.

  21. Enter the password you are creating into the Password field.

     

    For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "Education_123".

  22. For this example, the password has been re-entered in the Verify Password field.

  23. Click the button to the right of the Security Question field to display the security question options.

  24. Select the What was your favorite place to visit as a child? list item.

  25. Enter the information into the Security Answer field.

     

    For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "Park".

  27. Click the Continue > button to continue to the summary information.

  28. Click the Activate button to activate your account and save your password and security information.

  29. The system displays a message indicating that the account has been activated and that you will need to log into G5 to select your role for access.  You will also receive a confirmation email.

     

    Click the Go to Home button to open the G5 homepage.

  30. Enter the email address you used to register in G5 into the Email ID field.

     

    For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "tim.applicant@gmail.com".

  31. Enter the password you set up into the Password field.

     

    For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "Education_123".

  32. Click the Login to G5 button to log into the system.

  33. The Edit Profile screen displays with the information you entered when you set up your account.

     

    Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down and verify the information.

  34. Note:  You may update any of the fields which are active.  To change your password, you can click the Change Password button.

  36. Click the Continue > button to continue to the Additional Information screen.

  37. Enter the payee's UEI in the Payee UEI field.

     

    In this example, enter "CCC333DDD464".

  38. Click in the Access Level field to display the list of Access Levels.

  39. Select the appropriate Access Level from the list.

     

    View Only allows users to view available balances and the history of financial transactions associated with the provided Payee UEI.

     

    Full Access allows users to perform financial transactions for the grant awards associated with the provided Payee UEI including the creation of payment requests, refunds, and adjustments.

     

    In this example, select the Full Access list item.

  40. Enter the information into the Date of Birth field.

     

    In this example, enter "01/01/1980".

  41. Click the Continue > button to continue to the Edit Profile summary screen.

  43. Click the Submit button to submit and complete your access.

  44. Enter your senior official's email address in the Senior Official Email Address in the field.

     

    In this example, enter "jpitt@utraining.edu".

  45. Click the checkbox to acknowledge that you and your senior official will verify your signatures with ID.me and sign the form using Adobe Sign.

  46. Click the Send Adobe Form button to submit the form request.

  47. A message will appear confirming that the link to the Adobe Form has been sent to your email address.

  48. You will receive an email titled "Signature requested on "G5 Payee Access Form"."

     

    Click the Review and sign button in that email.

  49. Click the Verify Identity button to open ID.me.

  50. ID.me will open in a new window.

     

    To proceed, both you and your senior officer must have verified accounts in ID.me.  For guidance on creating an ID.me account, please visit Creating Your ID.me Account.

  51. Enter your email address and password for your ID.me account then click the Sign In button.

  52. Enter the code provided by your multi-factor authentication option.

     

    In this example, enter "326329" in the 6-digit code field.

  54. The G5 Payee Access Request Form will appear in Adobe Sign.

     

    Click the Continue button to begin the signature process.

  55. Click the Start button to begin editing fields.

     

    Required fields are identified by a red asterisk(*).

    Click the Apply button to add your signature to the form.

    Click the Click to Sign button to submit your signed form.

  60. You will receive a confirmation that you have finished signing the form.  The form will next be sent to your senior official for their signature.

     

    After your senior official signs the form, it will be sent to the G5 team for processing.  You will receive a resolution email after your account has been updated.
