In this topic, you will learn how to register in the G5 system as an applicant.
Steps:
Click the Sign In button to view the login options.
Step 1Click the Sign In button to open the G5 homepage.
Step 2Click the I Agree button to agree to the terms and open the G5 homepage.
Step 3Click the Sign Up link to register as a new user.
Step 4The User Registration screen displays.
Click in the ED Employee/ED Contractor field to display the employee/contractor options.
Step 5Select No to indicate you are not a U.S. Department of Education employee or contractor.
Step 6Enter the information in the First Name field.
In this example, enter "Tim".
Step 7Enter the information in the Last Name field.
In this example, enter "Applicant".
Step 8Enter the information in the Email Address field.
In this example, enter "tim.applicant@gmail.com".
Step 9Repeat your email address in the Confirm Email Address field. This step has been completed for you in this example.
Step 10Enter your address in the required fields which are identified by a red asterisk (*).
These fields have completed for you in this example.
Step 11Click the Continue button to continue to the user registration agreement.
Step 12Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down and read the user agreement.
Step 13After reviewing the agreement, select the Agree option to agree to the user agreement.
Note: If you do not agree, then you may not complete the registration process.
Step 14Click the Submit button to submit your account request.
Step 15The system displays a message indicating that the system will send a notification to your email address.
Step 16An email titled "[G5.gov] Account Request" will be sent to you.
Click the Activate My Account button.
Step 17Clicking the link takes you to the Account Activation screen.
Click the Agree option to agree to the activation terms.
Step 18Click the Submit button to submit your activation.
Step 19Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down and review the rules for the user ID and password.
Step 20Click the Continue > button to complete the password, security question and security answer.
Step 21Enter a phone number into one of the available fields.
In this example, enter "2025555555" in the Work Number field.
Step 22Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down.
Step 23Enter the password you are creating into the Password field.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "Education_123".
Step 24For this example, the password has been re-entered in the Verify Password field.
Step 25Click the button to the right of the Security Question field to display the security question options.
Step 26Select the What was your favorite place to visit as a child? list item.
Step 27Enter the information into the Security Answer field.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "Park".
Step 28For this example, the security questions and answers have been completed.
Step 29Click the Continue > button to continue to the summary information.
Step 30Click the Activate button to activate your account and save your password and security information.
Step 31The system displays a message indicating that the account has been activated and that you will need to log into G5 to select your role for access. You will also receive a confirmation email.
Click the Go to Home button to open the G5 homepage.
Step 32Enter the email address you used to register in G5 into the Email ID field.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "tim.applicant@gmail.com".
Step 33Enter the password you set up into the Password field.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "Education_123".
Step 34Click the Login to G5 button to log into the system.
Step 35The Edit Profile screen displays with the information you entered when you set up your account.
Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down and verify the information.
Step 36Note: You may update any of the fields which are active. To change your password, you can click the Change Password button.
Step 37Select the Applicant list item.
Step 38Click the Continue > button to continue to the Review Your Profile page.
Step 39Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down and verify the information.
Step 40After reviewing the information, click the Submit button to submit and complete your access.
Step 41The system displays a message indicating that your profile was successfully updated.
Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down.
Step 42Click the Go To Home button to return to the My Home Page screen.
Step 43Congratulations!
You have successfully registered as an applicant.
